Welcome to the Cool Kids Trial (CKT) website, a clinical trial of moderate hypothermia (32-33º C) as a treatment following severe traumatic brain injury in children as part of the Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury Consortium (PTBIC). The PTBIC was originally developed with the goal of expanding understanding of pediatric head injury and improving the outcomes of children through clinical research with clinical trials specifically designed for children following traumatic brain injury. This clinical trial represents a major project in an effort towards achieving these goals.
The CKT network was funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
and consists of a Coordinating Center at the University of Pittsburgh and twelve clinical sites across the United States.
